Academy News

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!  I hope this time of year finds you with family and friends.

Please take a moment to remember the men and women of our military who are defending freedom in other parts of the world.  As you are out and about, tell the soldiers you  see how much you appreciate the job they are doing.

CFA class #6 is progressing well.  We just completed session #7(Rope Rescue).  This is always the session that creates the most anxiety, but everyone got through it with no injuries or mental scars.  Okay, at least there were no injuries.

Alumni News

The Duncanville Citizen’s Fire Academy Alumni Association has finished another year and as we review it, it has been a good one!

We continue to enjoy our interaction with the Fire Department and the fire fighters.  They do a tremendous job for Duncanville and it has been our pleasure to work with them.  Some of our activities have included the Chief’s Breakfast, birthday parties at the station, the Annual Safety Fair, the very moving Fallen Firefighters Ceremony and retirement parties for some of the longest serving firefighters.

We had entries in the Duncanville Fourth of July and Christmas parades, we provided snacks for two new classes of the Citizen’s Fire Academy, and we began our participation in the Duncanville Community Action Response Team (CART) in coordination with the Danieldale Church of Christ.  One of our members, Lyle Hodge, did much research and brought the Knox Box program to our community.  Norma Flatt has continued to serve as our representative to the Texas Citizen’s Fire Academy Alumni Association.  One of our favorite events, the Firefighters Family Christmas Party, allowed us to give back a little to the men who do so much for us.
