What is the Duncanville Citizens Fire Academy?

        Travis Tooker

   Academy Coordinator

The Academy is a community outreach program of the Duncanville Fire Department.  It consists of a twelve week course that meets once a week for three hours.  Our weekly program of classroom and hands-on instruction, gives the citizens of Duncanville and those working within its city limits, the firsthand experience of being a firefighter in Duncanville.  I feel that this program not only promotes a better understanding of our mission as a Fire/Emergency Medical Service, but educates our citizens about fire and life safety, therefore creating a safer environment for all citizens.

When:

The Academy is offered at least twice per year and meets once a week for twelve weeks.  Classes are typically held from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Thursdays.  An occasional Saturday morning class will be substituted for Thursday when additional daylight is needed to safely participate in the hands-on portion of the class.

Where:

The Academy meets at Fire Station #2 located at 1530 S. Main Street.
